Climate action is our top priority as we build resilience to cope with intensifying climate events. We support a Just Transition to a low-carbon economy, and continue to work with our stakeholders to achieve net-zero by 2050.
Our Approach
Decarbonising our business is a key component of our sustainability strategy. By identifying and mitigating the risks of climate change, we address challenges and opportunities for sustainable growth.
Focus
Decarbonising Jardines
To account for Jardines’ size and complexity, we have segmented our businesses into two pathways to progress towards credible medium-term carbon reduction targets and ultimately net-zero by 2050.
In 2023, all businesses categorised under the Decarbonisation Pathway developed scope 1 and 2 decarbonisation targets and roadmaps, most of which are aligned with a 1.5°C trajectory. These roadmaps include different decarbonisation levers and will be reviewed and refined every year.
Hongkong Land was the first Group business to obtain validation of its near-term 1.5°C-aligned target by SBTi in 2022. DFI, Gammon and Hactl followed suit in 2023.
In line with the Transition Pathway, our mining and energy business has expanded into the renewable energy and transition mineral extraction sectors.
